Getting your Social Security Number

Documents to bring:

  • Passport + visa
  • DS-2019
  • I-94 (print a copy  here)
  • Social security letter from Cultural Care (can be found in au pair online account)
  • Social security application (find at office)

Once you have your social security number (usually within 2 weeks), you can open a bank account and get your CO license.

Getting your CO driver’s license

Cost:

  • Written test $16.80
  • Driving test $26

  • I-94

  • letter from CCAP
  • home country and international driver’s license
  • proof of address
Note: German and French au pairs do not have to take the written and driving tests because of an agreement between the US and Germany/France. You still need to take all the documents listed above and tell them you have a German/French drivers license and you want the Colorado license.
